Metro do Porto expansion plan, which foresees the extension of Casa da Música station to São Bento station (Pink Line) will be finished in 2024.

This 3km extension, in addition to serving areas of the city of Porto, will provide new connections. This new section improves accessibility to the central areas of the city, promotes the reduction of transport travel times, among other advantages.

The planned work will connect Casa da Música to São Bento creating 4 underground stations (two adjacent to the existing ones, São Bento and Casa da Música) ensuring the connection between S.Bento and Rotunda da Boavista.

Our specialists in 3D Surveying and Site Topography

We currently have 1 coordinator and 5 teams on site, and expect to reach 2 coordinators and between 7 and 10 teams in the coming months.

Our teams carry out 3D surveys of complex elements and structures with a high degree of accuracy. The information collected allows us to automatically or semi-automatically create or extract various data necessary for the construction of the Pink Line.

  • Plans, elevations and sections
  • Volumetry model
  • 3D models
  • Architectural representation
  • Integration with CAD / BIM software

We also carry out the implantations and control of the work, using stations of precision equal to or greater than 1" and also the densification of the Support of the Work.

Besides being the most efficient possible, the president of the Metro do Porto also underlined that the financing of this work is assured by Environmental Fund and by the funds of the operational program POSEUR Sustainability and efficiency in the use of resources, guaranteeing the consortium.

"It will not give up strict control of the measures defined in the environmental compliance statements, investing in information tools on the status and upcoming maintenance work"

This circular line will densify the underground transport supply in the city of Porto, improving access to central areas of Porto, which connects S. Bento and Praça da Liberdade to Casa da Música with urban transport:

  • Santo António Hospital
  • Rosa Mota Pavilion
  • Mother and Child Centre
  • Galicia
  • Colleges

Sustainable Line
What are the advantages of the Metro extension?

It is estimated that the extension will help reduce pollutant gas emissions and climate change. It develops entirely in tunnel and double track which will improve access to central areas of Porto, important business, residential and healthcare components, attracting many passengers away from individual transport.

  1. Demand from current individual transport users will increase by more than 30 million passengers in the first full year of operation.
  2. Reduction of CO2 emissions by almost 1,500 tons in the same period.
  3. More than 21,000 private vehicles and around 1,000 heavy goods vehicles a day will be taken off the roads
  4. Provide a sound alternative for many residents who use individual transport

A work that Souto de Moura won the Pritzker Prize

  • This project won two Pritzker prizes, Eduardo Souto de Moura, author of the works of the new stations, being the São Bento station signed in partnership with Álvaro Siza Vieira.
